How to avoid Grok top-up scams
Grok subscriptions are expensive enough that a cheap offer is tempting, and cheap offers are exactly where the scams live. Five checks separate a legitimate top-up from an account you are about to lose.

1. Anyone asking for your password
A real top-up is applied with a code you redeem yourself or with a purchase made on your account from your side. The moment somebody asks for your xAI, Grok or X password, stop. No refund policy makes that risk worth taking.
2. Shared accounts sold as subscriptions
Shared logins are the cheapest thing to sell and the first thing to break. They also put somebody else's private data in front of you.
- You are given a login rather than a code
- The account has other people's history in it
- The seller tells you not to change the password
- Access disappears when somebody else changes it
3. No order lookup
A legitimate service can tell you the state of a specific order by order number and email. If there is no order page and no way to see delivery status, there is no way to prove a failed order either — which is exactly the point.
4. Payment only by irreversible transfer
Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay through a payment processor create a record and a dispute path. Requests to pay by gift card, crypto transfer or a personal wallet remove every protection you have in one step.
5. No refund terms before you pay
Read the refund policy before checkout, not after something fails. Failed top-ups and undeliverable orders should be refunded, and the policy should be written where you can see it.
Frequently asked questions
How does Grok Pricing handle these risks?
Codes are delivered to your own account, orders are traceable by order number and email, payment runs through Stripe, and failed top-ups are refunded in full the same day.
Is a very low price always a scam?
Not always — regional pricing and bulk channels create real discounts — but an implausibly low price combined with any of the warning signs above should end the conversation.
What should I do if I already paid a suspicious seller?
Change the password of any account you shared, revoke unfamiliar sessions, and dispute the payment with your card issuer or processor as soon as possible.
